Naturopathic Medicine

Most people see Naturopathic Medicine as treatment with Natural Approaches. Yet what makes Naturopathic Medicine unique is not the tools we use, but rather how we use them. Naturopathic Doctors see the body as an ecosystem made up of various organs which depend on each other for survival (much like animals and plants depend on each other in the environment). When there are imbalances in our internal environment we begin to see disease. It is the job of the Naturopathic Doctor to restore a healthy internal environment so that the body can maintain a state of health.

Naturopathic Medicine utilizes various treatment/modalities to acheive this optimal state of inner balance. These Modalities inlcude::

  • Clinical Nutrition
  • Botanical Medicine
  • Homeopathy
  • Chinese Medicine & Acupuncture
  • Naturopathic Manipulation
  • Lifestyle Counselling
  • Hydrotherapy

IV Therapy

Intravenous (IV) Therapies refer to the use of relatively high dose vitamins, minerals, homeopathics and botanicals given to individuals through a needle directly into their blood circulation. This is a relatively safe way to acheive the concentration levels necessary for many of these nutrients.

IV Therapies can be used safely and effectively for a variety of disorders including:

  • Heavy Metal Toxicity
  • Cancer
  • General Anti-Aging
  • Pain Disorders
  • Cardiovascular Disease
  • and much more

Manual Medicine

Integrated osteopathy blends osteopathic and other manipulative treatments with acupuncture and biological medicine to provide a comprehensive system of diagnosis and treatment.

Osteopathic assessment can identify the cause of mechanical imbalances within the body. Manipulative techniques used to correct these imbalances include:

  • Cranial Manipulation: Very gentle and non-invasive cranial techniques used to treat conditions such as headaches, sinusitis, stroke-related symptoms, temporomandibular (TMJ) dysfunction.
  • Muscle Energy Techniques: Gentle resistive and releasing specific muscles to produce relaxation of both joints and soft tissues. Positional Release Therapy/Strain Counterstrain: Placing the patient in a specific position to allow the body to relax and release muscular spasms that may have been caused by a strain/sprain and could also result in further tissue tension elsewhere in the body.
  • Mobilization: Moving a joint through its range of motion, gradually increasing the motion until full range is restored.
  • Other manual techniques: Which are not osteopathic techniques but still complementary include: Trigenics, Matrix Repatterning, Trigger Point Therapy.

Once structural and functional integrity has been restored, it is important to provide the necessary tools to maintain balance and therefore, re-education plays an important role in the rehabilitation of the patient. Some of these important tools include: Relaxation techniques; breathing; postural correction, stretching and strengthening.

Facial Rejuvination

Cosmetic Acupuncture, Acupuncture Facelift, or Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture is a non-surgical method of reducing the signs of the aging process. But, it is more than just a cosmetic procedure. It is a rejuvenation and revitalization process designed to help the whole body look and feel younger. Treatment is based on the principles of Oriental Medicine and involves the insertion of sterile, hair-thin needles into specific areas of the face, ears, and body along channels or meridians of energy.

Facial rejuvenation using acupuncture helps to promote a more youthful appearance of the skin by supporting overall health and well being. It improves muscle tone and dermal contraction through increased collagen production, improved metabolism, hormonal balance, and increased overall circulation of lymph and blood.

Cosmetic acupuncture helps to eliminate and reduce bags under the eyes, decrease tendency toward sagging and jowls, eliminate puffiness, eliminate fine lines and deep wrinkles of the face, moisturize the skin, tighten pores, improve facial colour, reduce or eliminate double chins, lift drooping eyelids, delay hair greying and loss, and slow the aging process. Orthotic Therapy

It's important to understand your feet have direct impact on the rest of your body and support you with each step. A small abnormality in foot function can have a large impact on joints higher up in the body, causing pain and discomfort. When you are running, the pressure on your feet can be three or four times your body weight.Even walking can produce more pressure than the sum of your body weight.

The American Podiatric Medical Association says that the average person takes 8,000 to 10,000 steps a day. That adds up to about 115,000 miles in a lifetime or more than four times the circumference of the globe. That is a lot of walking with ill-fitting shoes or painful feet!!

Our specialized Gait Analysis Tool can be used to quickly and accurately assess your individualized needs so a custom fitted orthotic can be made. This orthotic will be specific to you and can help resolve long standing postural/foot arch related pain.
