MCNE Integrative Cancer Care, Environmental Medicine, and Naturopathic Infusion Therapy Residency Program


MCNE is one of the only health care centres in Canada to offer a full-time naturopathic residency program in Integrative Oncology, Environmental Medicine, and Naturopathic Infusion Therapy. This is residency program is available to licensed naturopathic doctors who have graduated from an accredited naturopathic college in North America. The program is 2 years and consists of three key areas:

Core Curriculum Topics

Integrative Oncology
  • Tumor biology
  • Rapid Cancer Diagnosis and Screening
  • Patient Assessment (Physical Examination, Imaging, Pathology, Laboratory Work-Up, History)
  • Conventional Treatments - their effects, side effects and supportive natural treatments
  • Individualized risk reductions - assessment of genetic risk and environmental factors influencing cancer risk and preparing specific preventive patient programs
  • Natural Cytostatics/Cytotoxics and their application in patients
  • Diet Therapy in Cancer Patients
  • Fitness Therapy in Cancer Patients
  • Naturopathic Medicine in palliative care
Environmental Medicine
  • Review of the pathophysiological process in Environmental Illness (EI) and Multiple Chemical Sensitivities (MCS)
  • Role of environmental contaminants in disease:
  • EMF/RF Fields
  • Toxic Metals
  • Chlorinated Pesticides
  • Volatile Solvents
  • PCBs
  • Pthalates
  • Parabens
  • Assessment of patient toxic exposure and body burden
  • Detoxification protocols for environmental exposures
  • Supportive therapies for EI and MCS

Research Projects
  • Residents must complete 2 extensive research projects of their choosing in the fields of integrative oncology and environmental medicine
  • The goal for each project is for eventual publishing
Mentorship and Patient Care
Patient cases are reviewed on a regular basis in group settings and residents are mentored with the clinic director and assistant director on difficult cases

Throughout the residency program residents are evaluated to ensure qualification for graduation of the program.
