“An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure”. This common saying has never been more important in a world where rates of chronic diseases like cancer are spiralling out of control. Given the cancer statistics that 1 in 2 men and 2 in 5 women will develop cancer in their lifetime it is important that we all take action to actively engage in preventive measures. Having said that it is often difficult to know where to start and what exactly to do. In this seminar Clinic Director and Cancer Expert Eric Marsden BSc ND will discuss 11 key steps to reduce your risk of cancer by close to 80%.

Naturopathic Doctors from MCNE Attend CCAC Expert Round Table
Naturopathic Doctors Eric Marsden and Rebecca Lee attended the Colorectal Cancer Association of Canada (CCAC)'s annual expert round table May 28-29, 2011. This event brings together oncologists, nurses, policy makers, industry stakeholders and patients/advocates for the purpose of improving the service delivery for patients with colorectal cancer.
This was the first time naturopathic doctors (NDs) participated in this event. NDs play an important role in the support of patients who have been diagnosed with cancer. Continued participation in dialogues like this will help improve the treatment for patients across the country and disease spectrum

Cell Phones Associated with Increased Cancer Risk
For years, concern has been voiced over the possible negative health effects caused by exposures to radiofrequency electromagnetic fields like those emitted by wireless phones.
In May of this year, the World Health Organization (WHO) released a statement warning of a possible relationship with wireless phone use and cancer. This report classified radiofrequency electromagnetic fields as possibly carcinogenic to humans (Group 2B) due to an increased risk for glioma (a type of brain cancer) associated with cell phones.

| Green Tea and Tai Chi May Improve Bone Health |
Bone health in any age is important and especially so for postmenopausal women. It is among one of the most important health concerns in these women due to the fact that a decrease in estrogen, which helps to keep bones strong, leads to too much bone loss causing osteopenia (low bone mass) and later osteoporosis, where bones may be so weak that fractures may occur.
A recent study by Dr. Shen on green tea polyphenols and tai chi has shown to not only be safe but to also improve bone health.
